Frequently asked questions
We've compiled the questions we hear most often from Valley homeowners. Can't find what you're looking for? Contact us — we're happy to answer anything.
General questions
What areas do you serve?
We serve nine communities across the Phoenix metro area: Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, San Tan Valley, Apache Junction, Phoenix, and Scottsdale. If you're unsure whether we cover your address, give us a call at (480) 520-9000 — we'll let you know right away.
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes. Brenner Garage Door is fully licensed, bonded, and insured in the state of Arizona. Every technician on our team is background-checked before they ever step foot in a customer's home.
What are your business hours? Do you offer 24/7 service?
Our regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. We maintain a 24/7 emergency line for situations where your door won't close, your car is trapped, or there's a security risk. Emergency calls outside business hours are subject to an emergency service fee.
What sets Brenner Garage Door apart from other companies?
A few things: we give you a clear quote before any work begins. We offer options so you can choose what fits your budget. We're a real local family business, not a franchise or a call center. And we stand behind every job with a workmanship warranty.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes. All labor comes with our workmanship warranty, and we pass through manufacturer warranties on parts and equipment. The specific terms depend on the type of service — your technician will explain the applicable coverage when presenting your estimate.
Repair questions
How much does garage door repair cost?
It depends on what's wrong. Every repair is different, and we always provide a clear quote before starting any work so you know what to expect. We offer options to fit your budget and needs.
Is it safe to use my door if something seems wrong?
Not always. If your door is making unusual noises, moving unevenly, or has visible damage to springs, cables, or tracks, we recommend stopping use immediately. A malfunctioning garage door can be a serious safety hazard — springs and cables are under extreme tension and can cause injury if they fail unexpectedly. Call us; we'll advise you on next steps.
Should I repair or replace my garage door?
If the damage is limited to one or two components on an otherwise sound door, repair is almost always the better value. If multiple parts are failing simultaneously, the door is 20+ years old, or it has significant structural damage, replacement may be more cost-effective long-term. We'll give you our honest recommendation — and it won't be driven by what earns us the most money.
Can you really come out the same day?
In most cases, yes. We offer same-day service across the Valley, and our trucks carry the most common parts — springs, rollers, cables, sensors — so we can usually complete the repair in a single visit. Call us at (480) 520-9000 and we'll tell you our earliest available slot.
Is it safe to do my own garage door repairs?
Garage door systems involve high-tension springs, heavy components, and precise calibration. For your safety, we strongly recommend having a trained professional handle all garage door repairs. An improperly repaired spring can snap with enough force to cause serious injury. This is genuinely not a DIY job.
Installation questions
How much does a new garage door cost?
The cost of a new garage door depends on size, material, insulation level, style, and features. Installation labor is included in our quotes. We'll give you a clear estimate during your free consultation so you know exactly what to expect.
How long does installation take?
A standard single-door installation usually takes 3 to 4 hours. A double door or more complex installation may take 4 to 6 hours. We aim to complete every job in a single visit, so you're not waiting around for a return trip.
Do I need a new opener with a new door?
Not always. If your current opener is in good condition and has enough horsepower for the new door, it can often be reused. If your opener is aging or you're interested in smart/WiFi features, this is a great time to upgrade. We'll assess your opener and give you a clear recommendation.
What brands do you carry?
We install doors and openers from the industry's most respected manufacturers. During your consultation, we'll walk you through the options that best match your budget and needs.
What door styles and materials are available?
We offer a wide range of styles — traditional raised panel, carriage house, contemporary flush — in steel, aluminum, wood composite, and fiberglass. Insulated options are strongly recommended for Arizona's climate; they keep your garage cooler in summer and help reduce energy costs. We'll bring samples and walk you through the options.
Opener questions
What opener brands do you service?
We install and service all major opener brands. If your opener isn't working, give us a call — there's a good chance we can fix it rather than replace it.
When should I repair vs. replace my opener?
If your opener has an isolated issue — like a broken gear, a faulty capacitor, or a remote programming problem — repair is usually the right call. If it's frequently malfunctioning or missing modern safety features, replacement makes more sense and often costs less in the long run than repeated repairs. Our technician will assess your unit and give you an honest recommendation.
Do you install smart/WiFi-enabled openers?
Yes. We install and configure smart garage door openers that let you open, close, and monitor your garage door from your smartphone. We'll handle setup and make sure everything is connected before we leave.
What horsepower opener do I need?
The right horsepower depends on your door's size, weight, and material. We'll assess your door and recommend the right unit for your situation.
How long do garage door openers last?
Opener lifespan varies based on usage, maintenance, and environmental conditions. Arizona's summer heat can shorten that lifespan if the unit isn't in a climate-controlled space. Regular professional maintenance extends opener life significantly.
Pricing questions
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. For installation projects and larger repair jobs, we offer free consultations and estimates. Call us and we'll clarify what applies to your situation.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The price we quote is the price you pay. If we discover additional issues during a repair, we stop and discuss them with you before doing any additional work.
Do you offer financing?
We're working on adding financing options for larger installation projects. In the meantime, we offer flexible payment options and a clear breakdown of costs so there are no surprises. Ask about our payment options when you schedule.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. Payment is due at time of service. For larger installation projects, we may require a deposit when materials are ordered.
Scheduling questions
How do I schedule a service appointment?
The easiest way is to call us at (480) 520-9000 — we'll get you booked same-day in most cases. You can also schedule online and we'll confirm your appointment within a few hours. We give you a 2-hour arrival window so you're not stuck waiting all day.
What should I do to prepare for my technician's visit?
Just make sure we can access the garage door from both inside and outside. We'll bring everything we need. If you have any details about the issue, feel free to share them when we arrive — it helps us diagnose faster.
What if I need emergency service outside business hours?
Call our main number at (480) 520-9000. After hours, the call routes to our emergency line. We triage based on safety — a door that won't close, a door trapping a vehicle, or a security concern get priority. We'll communicate all details upfront before confirming the call.
Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Yes. We just ask for as much notice as possible — ideally at least a few hours before your scheduled window. Call (480) 520-9000 and we'll take care of it. Life happens; we understand.
