Garage door opener installation
Whether you're replacing a worn-out opener, upgrading to something quieter, or adding an opener to a garage that doesn't have one, Brenner Garage Door handles the full installation. We'll help you choose the right model for your door, handle all the mounting, wiring, and programming, and make sure everything works perfectly before we leave.
Warning signs it's time for a new opener
- Your opener is more than 15 years old and starting to slow down or act unpredictably.
- It's louder than it used to be, with grinding, rattling, or straining sounds.
- The opener struggles to lift the door, even after the door has been balanced and serviced.
- You're missing modern safety features like auto-reverse, rolling codes, or battery backup.
- You want smart features like WiFi control, smartphone alerts, or guest access.
How we install it
We start by assessing your garage door and the existing setup. We check the door's weight and balance, measure the headroom and clearance, and note the electrical situation. Then we recommend the right opener type and horsepower for your door. Installation includes mounting the unit, installing the rail and trolley, connecting the wiring, programming your remotes and wall controls, setting the safety sensors, and adjusting the travel limits and force settings. We test everything thoroughly and show you how to use the new system.
Why professional installation matters
A properly installed opener runs quieter, lasts longer, and operates safely. An opener that's the wrong horsepower, improperly mounted, or poorly adjusted will strain to lift the door, wear out prematurely, and may not reverse properly if something is in the door's path. Professional installation ensures your opener and door work together as a balanced system.
Choosing the right opener
- Belt drive
- Our top recommendation for attached garages. Near-silent operation with smooth, reliable performance. Slightly more expensive than chain drive, but the noise reduction is worth it for most homeowners.
- Chain drive
- The most affordable option. Strong and durable, with a long track record. Best suited for detached garages where noise isn't a concern.
- Wall-mount
- Frees up ceiling space entirely. Mounts beside the door on the wall and uses a torsion bar to drive the door. Quiet, compact, and great for garages with high ceilings or limited headroom.
Smart features worth considering
- WiFi & smartphone control
- Open, close, and monitor your door from anywhere using an app on your phone.
- Battery backup
- Your door still works during power outages, which matters during Arizona monsoon season.
- Activity alerts
- Get notified when the door opens or closes. Know when the kids get home.
- Guest access
- Give temporary access to house cleaners, dog walkers, or delivery drivers without sharing a remote or code.
- Integration
- Works with Amazon Key, Google Home, Apple HomeKit (depending on brand), and other smart home systems.

Frequently asked questions
Will a new opener work with my existing door?
In most cases, yes. As long as your door is in good condition and properly balanced, a new opener can be installed on it. If we notice any issues with the door during installation, we'll let you know before proceeding.
How many remotes come with a new opener?
Most openers come with two remotes and a wall-mounted control panel. Additional remotes and wireless keypads can be added. We'll program everything during installation.
Do I need an electrician?
If your garage already has a standard electrical outlet near the ceiling (which most do), no electrician is needed. If electrical work is required, we'll let you know during the assessment.
