What we found
This Gilbert home was getting a fresh coat of paint, and the homeowners wanted the garage doors to match the new look rather than drag it down. The existing doors were two tan builder-grade doors on an oversized three-car garage — functional, but the plain panels did nothing for the front of the house, and on a garage this wide the doors are most of what you see from the street.
What we did
We replaced both doors with insulated carriage-house style doors: crisp white bead-board panels with black decorative hardware. The carriage-house look gives the doors the character of old swing-out barn doors while still rolling up like a modern sectional door, and the insulated construction adds rigidity and slows heat through the door in summer. On a three-car garage this size, two matching doors also have to line up perfectly, so we measured both openings and set both doors to the same reveal.
How it turned out
With the new paint and the new doors, the whole front of the house lifted — the homeowners got the curb appeal they were after in their Gilbert neighborhood.
